Meanwhile, Rakuten Inc (TYO:) added 4.57% or 41.50 points to end at 949.50 and Canon Inc (TYO:) was up 3.27% or 158.00 points to 4,986.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 5.94% or 211.00 points to trade at 3,342.00 at the close. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 3.75% or 142.00 points to end at 3,640.00 and IHI Corp. (TYO:) was down 3.55% or 205.00 points to 5,563.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2330 to 1295 and 247 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.23% to 29.52.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.19% or 0.14 to $73.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.16% or 0.12 to hit $77.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.24% or 6.20 to trade at $2,556.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.41% to 145.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 162.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 101.36.
