The best performers of the session on the were Keio Corp. (TYO:), which rose 6.23% or 231.00 points to trade at 3,938.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:) added 5.53% or 209.00 points to end at 3,987.00 and KDDI Corp. (TYO:) was up 4.81% or 234.00 points to 5,103.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 11.27% or 903.00 points to trade at 7,108.00 at the close. Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:) declined 10.66% or 778.00 points to end at 6,522.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:) was down 8.61% or 865.00 points to 9,185.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2554 to 1072 and 256 ended unchanged.
Shares in KDDI Corp. (TYO:) rose to all time highs; up 4.81% or 234.00 to 5,103.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.15% to 19.99 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.67% or 0.50 to $74.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.71% or 0.55 to hit $77.00 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.69% or 19.44 to trade at $2,787.16 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 155.87, while EUR/JPY fell 0.13% to 163.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 107.55.
