Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the declined 5.73% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the were NH Foods Ltd (TYO:), which rose 6.99% or 330.00 points to trade at 5,053.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Konami Corp. (TYO:) added 2.84% or 315.00 points to end at 11,420.00 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO:) was up 1.81% or 31.00 points to 1,745.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daiwa Securities Group Inc. (TYO:), which fell 18.85% or 231.90 points to trade at 998.60 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 13.48% or 1,620.00 points to end at 10,395.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:) was down 12.34% or 301.00 points to 2,138.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3805 to 69 and 21 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.75% to 21.39.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.81% or 0.62 to $76.93 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.77% or 0.61 to hit $80.13 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.23% or 30.50 to trade at $2,511.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.30% to 148.90, while EUR/JPY fell 0.24% to 160.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 104.01.
