Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the declined 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:), which rose 2.25% or 0.43 points to trade at 19.57 at the close. Meanwhile, CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:) added 1.93% or 0.09 points to end at 4.48 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:) was up 1.00% or 0.04 points to 3.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:), which fell 4.06% or 0.15 points to trade at 3.54 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:) declined 2.87% or 0.01 points to end at 0.39 and Corticeira Amorim (ELI:) was down 1.23% or 0.12 points to 9.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 14 to 14 and 8 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for September delivery was up 1.47% or 1.23 to $84.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.96% or 1.56 to hit $81.27 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.55 to trade at $2,466.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.54.
