Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the gained 0.05% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which rose 4.14% or 5.10 points to trade at 128.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON:) added 2.91% or 3.20 points to end at 113.00 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.63% or 9.50 points to 371.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:), which fell 8.76% or 393.00 points to trade at 4,093.00 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:) declined 8.07% or 52.40 points to end at 596.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was down 1.98% or 9.20 points to 454.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 907 to 876 and 701 ended unchanged.
Shares in Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.76% or 393.00 to 4,093.00. Shares in Entain PLC (LON:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 8.07% or 52.40 to 596.60. Shares in NatWest Group PLC (LON:) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.63% or 9.50 to 371.40.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 6.30 to $2,421.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.66% or 1.28 to hit $75.88 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.23 to trade at $79.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 104.38.
