Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were NatWest Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.45% or 11.80 points to trade at 354.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Shell PLC (LON:) added 2.35% or 60.50 points to end at 2,638.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.08% or 4.60 points to 226.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:), which fell 3.30% or 15.90 points to trade at 466.20 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:) declined 3.17% or 36.00 points to end at 1,101.00 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) was down 3.14% or 4.35 points to 134.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 930 to 863 and 671 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 2.85 to $2,664.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.08% or 2.29 to hit $76.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.92% or 2.28 to trade at $80.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.22.
