Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the were BAE Systems PLC (LON:), which rose 2.91% or 36.00 points to trade at 1,273.50 at the close. Meanwhile, BP PLC (LON:) added 2.37% or 9.30 points to end at 401.00 and WPP PLC (LON:) was up 2.25% or 17.20 points to 780.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:), which fell 4.97% or 10.20 points to trade at 195.20 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:) declined 3.54% or 18.40 points to end at 501.60 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) was down 3.50% or 78.00 points to 2,150.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1095 to 744 and 631 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.00% or 26.70 to $2,686.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.08% or 2.78 to hit $70.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.79% or 2.72 to trade at $74.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.67% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 100.97.
