Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:), which rose 9.84% or 43.60 points to trade at 486.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Pearson PLC (LON:) added 2.73% or 28.50 points to end at 1,071.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was up 2.72% or 13.80 points to 520.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:), which fell 2.67% or 1.54 points to trade at 56.12 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:) declined 1.64% or 54.00 points to end at 3,239.00 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:) was down 1.47% or 52.00 points to 3,493.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 977 to 841 and 652 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.04% or 1.05 to $2,753.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 5.71% or 4.10 to hit $67.68 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.65% or 4.27 to trade at $71.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.14.
