Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:), which rose 7.77% or 34.80 points to trade at 482.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Burberry Group PLC (LON:) added 3.18% or 22.20 points to end at 719.80 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.46% or 63.00 points to 2,629.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:), which fell 7.12% or 32.70 points to trade at 426.30 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) declined 3.41% or 5.80 points to end at 164.20 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:) was down 1.95% or 12.00 points to 604.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1070 to 726 and 691 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.39% or 9.40 to $2,389.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.46% or 0.36 to hit $78.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.38 to trade at $82.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.10.
