Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The best performers of the session on the were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:), which rose 4.10% or 8.15 points to trade at 206.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Persimmon PLC (LON:) added 3.81% or 61.00 points to end at 1,662.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was up 3.15% or 15.80 points to 518.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:), which fell 4.52% or 85.00 points to trade at 1,796.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:) declined 4.04% or 17.00 points to end at 403.55 and BP PLC (LON:) was down 3.89% or 15.90 points to 392.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 921 to 867 and 671 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.69% or 18.40 to $2,684.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 4.97% or 3.67 to hit $70.16 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.75% or 3.68 to trade at $73.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.96.
