Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the declined 2.09% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:), which rose 0.41% or 17.00 points to trade at 4,167.00 at the close. Meanwhile, HALEON PLC (LON:) added 0.25% or 0.90 points to end at 368.70 and Darktrace PLC (LON:) was down 0.17% or 1.00 points to 592.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:), which fell 6.65% or 32.10 points to trade at 450.50 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:) declined 5.76% or 46.80 points to end at 766.40 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:) was down 5.43% or 144.00 points to 2,509.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1826 to 259 and 209 ended unchanged.
Shares in HALEON PLC (LON:) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.25% or 0.90 to 368.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.13% or 27.95 to $2,441.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.45% or 0.33 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.23 to trade at $76.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.58% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 102.58.
