Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the added 0.58% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index gained 0.97%, and the index climbed 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the were McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:), which rose 3.25% or 9.06 points to trade at 287.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 3.09% or 0.65 points to end at 21.52 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 2.05% or 6.58 points to 328.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dow Inc (NYSE:), which fell 0.48% or 0.26 points to trade at 53.65 at the close. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) declined 0.34% or 0.91 points to end at 266.47 and Chevron Corp (NYSE:) was down 0.30% or 0.44 points to 146.83.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were EQT Corporation (NYSE:) which rose 4.88% to 33.72, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.54% to settle at 155.30 and Darden Restaurants Inc (NYSE:) which gained 4.41% to close at 149.68.
The worst performers were HP Inc (NYSE:) which was down 3.65% to 34.60 in late trade, Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:) which lost 2.65% to settle at 92.30 and Domino’s Pizza Inc (NYSE:) which was down 2.27% to 432.84 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Better Home & Finance Holding Co (NASDAQ:) which rose 4,995.48% to 20.28, Alzamend Neuro Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 185.71% to settle at 5.80 and NuCana PLC (NASDAQ:) which gained 181.16% to close at 9.70.
The worst performers were Liquidia Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 30.62% to 9.79 in late trade, Cingulate Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 27.64% to settle at 12.80 and Yunji Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.27% to 0.56 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2120 to 724 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2390 rose and 961 declined, while 110 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.01% to 14.65 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.10 to $2,542.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.30% or 1.74 to hit $73.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.38% or 1.90 to trade at $77.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.11, while USD/JPY fell 0.65% to 146.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 101.73.
