Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the rose 0.62% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index climbed 0.55%, and the index added 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 2.96% or 0.99 points to trade at 34.49 at the close. Meanwhile, International Business Machines (NYSE:) added 2.53% or 4.52 points to end at 182.83 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.80% or 5.85 points to 330.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:), which fell 1.21% or 2.51 points to trade at 204.94 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.94% or 1.21 points to end at 127.76 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) was down 0.87% or 1.60 points to 182.31.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 6.86% to 119.34, Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:) which was up 5.23% to settle at 64.69 and Accenture plc (NYSE:) which gained 4.24% to close at 310.63.
The worst performers were Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:) which was down 5.97% to 56.57 in late trade, Align Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 5.33% to settle at 242.65 and West Pharmaceutical Services Inc (NYSE:) which was down 3.10% to 322.98 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were IM Cannabis Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 569.38% to 2.47, Qualigen Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 111.45% to settle at 0.43 and Vicinity Motor Corp (NASDAQ:) which gained 110.98% to close at 0.71.
The worst performers were Shineco Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 60.38% to 0.84 in late trade, Monterey Capital Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) which lost 49.50% to settle at 3.54 and Kazia Therapeutics Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 27.76% to 0.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2120 to 726 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2321 rose and 1028 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:) rose to all time highs; up 5.23% or 3.22 to 64.69. Shares in Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.80% or 5.85 to 330.94. Shares in Monterey Capital Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 49.50% or 3.47 to 3.54.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.56% to 12.46.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.21% or 5.20 to $2,416.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.45% or 0.37 to hit $82.25 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.36 to trade at $85.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.57% to 157.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 103.79.
