Meanwhile, Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) added 2.46% or 2.21 points to end at 92.14 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was up 2.01% or 2.52 points to 127.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.70% or 5.95 points to trade at 344.53 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) declined 1.66% or 0.52 points to end at 30.83 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.57% or 4.12 points to 258.59.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 11.50% to 78.24, Revvity Inc (NYSE:) which was up 9.07% to settle at 125.59 and ResMed Inc (NYSE:) which gained 5.84% to close at 208.54.
The worst performers were Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.71% to 113.72 in late trade, ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:) which lost 3.45% to settle at 799.06 and Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE:) which was down 3.38% to 26.31 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Lipella Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 116.67% to 0.90, 2U Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 112.00% to settle at 2.65 and Tivic Health Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 55.31% to close at 0.70.
The worst performers were Cognition Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 43.88% to 1.33 in late trade, GRI Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 35.17% to settle at 0.82 and CERo Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 28.59% to 0.18 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1666 to 1157 and 91 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2298 fell and 1072 advanced, while 110 ended unchanged.
Shares in GRI Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 35.17% or 0.44 to 0.82. Shares in CERo Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 28.59% or 0.07 to 0.18.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,427.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.66% or 1.28 to hit $75.88 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 1.20 to trade at $79.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.20% to 154.04.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.34.
