The worst performers of the session were American Express Company (NYSE:), which fell 2.19% or 6.05 points to trade at 270.74 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) declined 2.17% or 2.36 points to end at 106.34 and Travelers Companies (NYSE:) was down 2.17% or 5.75 points to 259.70.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Kenvue Inc (NYSE:) which rose 5.52% to 22.92, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.14% to settle at 143.71 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) which gained 3.11% to close at 159.82.
The worst performers were Builders FirstSource Inc (NYSE:) which was down 5.20% to 184.84 in late trade, Cigna Corp (NYSE:) which lost 4.69% to settle at 320.23 and Lennar Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 4.39% to 180.63 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Genprex Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 265.62% to 1.51, GRI Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 127.59% to settle at 1.32 and Siyata Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 82.18% to close at 1.84.
The worst performers were TC BioPharm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ:) which was down 55.14% to 2.27 in late trade, Gritstone Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 31.78% to settle at 0.03 and JIA DA CORP (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.32% to 1.54 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2196 to 627 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2249 fell and 1042 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.14% or 5.71 to 143.71. Shares in Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; rising 0.66% or 1.55 to 236.55. Shares in TC BioPharm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 55.14% or 2.79 to 2.27. Shares in Gritstone Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 31.78% or 0.02 to 0.03.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 4.30 to $2,734.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.70% or 1.17 to hit $69.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 1.03 to trade at $74.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.86% to 150.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 103.80.
