A South Florida entrepreneur believes the next big innovation in entertaining isn’t another kitchen gadget or smartphone app. It’s a candle you can eat.

Claudia Mosley, founder of CeraViva, has created handcrafted edible candles that melt into warm dipping sauces and dessert spreads, transforming an ordinary meal into what she calls “an experience.”

“The product is not really the candle,” Mosley told Fox News Digital. “The candle is the vehicle. The product is the experience that you’re giving your guests.”

Made with organic and premium ingredients, the candles are designed to pair with bread, vegetables, seafood, meats or desserts, Mosley said.

Savory flavors include chimichurri, shrimp scampi and parmesan cream, while sweet varieties include raspberry cream, apple pie and a new Key lime pie flavor.

Mosley said her sweet candles contain no added sugar.

“They’re sweet, but they’re not super sweet,” she said. “They have the perfect balance.”

Each candle is crafted to encourage people to put away their phones and spend time connecting around the dinner table, Mosley said.

The business represents more than culinary creativity for Mosley. Born in Colombia, the 50-year-old mother of four immigrated to the United States as a teenager and built a successful merchant services company with her identical twin sister before launching CeraViva.

Mosley said she’s been living the “true American dream.”

That entrepreneurial mindset has shaped every step of the venture. Mosley said she has invested more than $20,000 to launch the business, obtaining the necessary state licenses, moving production into a commercial kitchen and developing a patented formula designed to withstand shipping and refrigeration.

Consumers can purchase the candles directly from CeraViva’s website for $38, but Mosley said her bigger goal is getting them onto restaurant tables.

“Every restaurant is looking for an experience,” she said.

Diners would order the edible candle as an appetizer before their meal, giving it 20 to 25 minutes to melt into a warm dipping sauce while they talk, she said.

Mosley’s edible candles are meant to create conversation, encourage families to unplug and give restaurants a memorable experience customers can’t get at home.

Whether the edible candle becomes the next viral dining trend remains to be seen, but Mosley is betting the simple act of lighting a flame can help rekindle something she believes many families have lost — meaningful time together.
